Organisation structure
Four ideas describe how your company is set up in Raya. Getting these right up front makes everything else — stock, GST, reporting — behave the way you expect.
Account
Your Account is your company (the subscriber). Everything you do lives under one account, kept completely separate from every other company on Raya. Users, settings, and all records belong to the account.
Business Unit
A Business Unit is an optional segment inside your company — a division, brand or vertical. Every account starts with one default business unit; you can add more and tag transactions to a unit so you can report by division.
- Set them up in Settings → Organization → Businesses.
- Business units are a reporting dimension — they don't split your GST or your stock, they just let you slice numbers by part of the business.
Location
A Location is a physical place where stock lives or work happens — a warehouse, store, shop, office, factory — optionally down to the rack. Stock is tracked per location, so you always know not just how much you have but where.
- Manage them in Inventory → Locations.
- Location types and addresses (with geo‑coordinates) are supported; you can flag temperature‑controlled storage.
Branch (the Unified Branch Model)
A Branch is a Location that's linked to a GSTIN — the way Raya models a place of business with its own GST registration.
- A branch has a GSTIN profile and can have sub‑locations under it.
- An active‑branch selector scopes what you see across Sales, Purchase, Inventory and Finance, and automatically stamps the right GSTIN, place of supply and location on documents.
- Transfers between branches are handled correctly:
- Same GSTIN → an internal move; Raya auto‑posts Stock‑in‑Transit journal entries.
- Different GSTIN → treated as a supply and validated accordingly (a plain cross‑GSTIN stock transfer is blocked; use the proper document).
Set up multiple GSTINs (one per branch) in Settings → Tax & Compliance → GSTIN profiles.
